This annual Sundance is sponsored by Eva Söderberg, HansPeter Tschol and Michael Feucht in conjunction with the Sweet Medicine Metis SunDance Foundation and the Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society, a Nonprofit Organization (DTMMS), and is held on the property known as Fly/Åseda.

As a condition of my participation in this 33nd SunDance 2025 and entry on the land, I hereby release, indemnify and hold harmless the owners of the land, the SunDance Foundation, DTMMS and their respective agents, servants, employees, directors and partners from any loss, damage or injury I sustain to myself or my property while attending SunDance. I explicitly renounce to claims made by third persons in the case I sustain any personal or material damage.

I am aware that the land and its access are undeveloped, and that there may be various unknown hazards. I am aware that for the duration of my stay I will be camping, and that there will only be minimal infrastructure at my disposition. I am informed that the SunDance itself is a physically demanding ceremony, and I declare myself being physically and psychologically fully capable to participate in the building up- and cleaning work as well as in the ceremony itself.

I explicitly declare that I participate in the ceremony out of my own free will and that I carry the full responsibility for my material and myself. I am aware that I am in no way insured through the SunDance organization nor through the landowners, and that it is left to my own care and responsibility to insure myself against illness, accident, loss or damage of my material, as well as against claims that others may hold against myself.

I will not bring any minors to SunDance other than those minors described below. I assume all risk of injury to such minors. All guardians of such minors are executing this waiver and release on behalf of such minors as well as themselves. I will indemnify and hold Releases harmless for any loss, liability, damage or injury sustained by such minors while attending SunDance from any cause whatsoever. I take unconditional responsibility for the safety and welfare of such minors and myself.

Sundance Shamanic Purification Lodge of the Sweet Medicine Sun Dance Path Declaration of Indemnification

1. The shamanic purification lodge is a many thousand years old tradition of a sacred ceremony commonly identified with cultures of the native Indian inhabitants of America. Also nowadays many tribes regularly celebrate purification lodges.
2. The shamanic purification lodge of the Sweet Medicine Sun Dance Path (SMSD) within the lineage of the Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society (DTMMS) is part of the ancient shamanic lineage of the Twisted Hairs of Turtle Island (learn more: www.dtmms.org). The purification lodge is a structure used for ceremonial steam bathing (similar to a sauna) and is often made of willow branches and formed into a dome-like structure (approx. 15 ft in diameter and 4 ft. high). The purification lodge is covered by blankets and often with tarps to fully eliminate outside light, and shelter from rain, ice, snow as well as extreme cold in order to create an undisturbed by everyday world and sacred space for prayer. The ceremony is done while sitting on the ground and usually will last at least one hour.
3. Primary purpose of this purification lodge is to cleanse oneself and reestablish one’s connection to Spirit through prayer. The participant will be guided through the ceremony by a trained leader of the purification lodge (Dance Chief) of the SMSD path.
4. I, the undersigned participant, declare of having been informed by the Dance Chief about possible health risks and specificities of the purification lodge such as exposure to steam heat and high temperatures (Dehydration and overheating, etc.) in a confined space with other individuals. I, the participant, declare that I have been alerted by the Dance Chief that it is my responsibility to inquire with a specialist about my personal health risk when participating in the purification lodge. I have completely understood the instruction to which is referred to herewith and which is part of this declaration, and therefore I have no further questions. The responsible persons in charge will act in due diligence to avoid such damage to health.
5. I, the undersigned participant, declare that I am not aware of, nor have I ever been made aware by a doctor or another specialist that I have any physical and/or mental/emotional condition(s) which would prevent me from participating in shamanic purification lodges. Fully aware of my personal health condition, I decide out of my free will and out of my own responsibility and at my own risk to participate in this purification lodge. In case of any damage to my health, predictable or unpredictable, direct or indirect, I hereby renounce any and all claims against the indicated persons and organizations mentioned under Section 6, unless such damages are a consequence of intentional or gross negligent breach of the duties as described under Section 4 by the Dance Chief or other responsible persons and organisations in charge.
6. As a condition for my participation in shamanic purification lodge ceremonies and for my access to the land I declare to fully renounce all claims against the landlord, the Sweet Medicine Metis Sundance Foundation, the Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society (DTMMS) and its authorized affiliate lodges and its officers, board of directors (collectively and individually), employees, agents and any and all individuals involved either directly or indirectly in any capacity, who have participated in the planning, directing, and/or facilitating the workshops, teachings and ceremonies. I will at any time strictly and instantly follow all orders of the Dance Chief and of the organizer and of the team of physicians, especially the order to terminate the purification ceremony. I have understood that without giving any reason I am at any time free to continue the purification ceremony outside the lodge.
7. The applicable laws of Switzerland at the registered office of the Sweet Medicine Metis Sundance Foundation apply to this declaration of consent and indemnification.
8. This declaration of consent and indemnification applies to myself and any minors I am legally responsible for (see listed below).
